The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is a great breed for waterfowl hunting and retrieving. They will play at the water's edge while the hunter would stay in the blind. His antics draws the attention of birds who are enticed near his activity (hence the word "Tollen" which means entice). When the waterfowl would get closer to the dog, the Retriever would retreat back to the duck blind, the hunter would then stand, scaring the birds into flight and "BANG!". Then the hunting companion would do what they do - and retrieve the shot game bird!

FIrst arriving in the United States in the 1960's the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever is a smaller dog but are incredibly smart, have a sense of humor like a Golden Retriever, and are good companions for young kids in your family that like to play ball with their canine brother or sister.
